2018 Annual Meeting

Dignity Houston will be holding its annual membership meeting on Saturday, October 20th at 4:15 PM at 1827 West Alabama Street, Houston, TX 77098 at the Havens Center next to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. Remember that you must be a member for at least 30 days in order to vote in the annual elections/meeting.

Predawn Courage and Clarity By the Light of the Early Morn

Remembering the first time he glimpsed the possibility of loving and being known and loved in return, Roy relates some of his growing up, his first significant act of defiance, and how at 17, he and a classmate together found a space beside one another that they had never before known. Humility, determination, and hope would all follow in the glow of that morning when for an instant, "the outside felt and looked the same as the inside."

Like so many in the LGBTQ+ community, we are still mourning the loss of 49 lives in the massacre at Orlando. In my own moments of anger and grief, I found myself turning to music, and I was surprised by the amount of comfort I found in music specifically addressing the Orlando tragedy. The Psalms remind us that music can help us in sorting through life's  mysteries. Pslam 49:4 states: "I will incline my ear to a proverb; I will solve my riddle to the music of the lyre."
